History & Future
The journey and evolutionary roadmap of windshield recycling and PVB polymer innovations.
The Evolution of Windshield Recycling
For decades, automotive laminated glass was regarded as unrecyclable waste due to the complex bonding between PolyVinyl Butyral (PVB) interlayer films and soda-lime glass sheets. Millions of tons of damaged windshields were routinely dumped into landfills worldwide every year.
Recognizing this environmental challenge, our team embarked on an intensive engineering journey to develop specialized mechanical and thermal delamination processes capable of stripping 99.8% of glass fragments from the underlying PVB film without degrading its polymeric chain length.
Key Milestones & Technical Advancements
- 2012–2015: First prototype batch shredding and differential density separation units tested in India.
- 2016–2019: Development of continuous crushing and patented glass peeling rollers capable of processing 1,500 windshields per 8-hour shift.
- 2020–Present: Industrial scale compounding plants turning post-consumer PVB into calibrated pellets for automotive floor mats, waterproofing membranes, primers, and carpet backing.
The Future: Closed-Loop Circular Glass & Polymer Economy
Our ongoing R&D focus is on high-purity optical sorting, robotic windshield handling, and next-generation thermoplastic elastomeric blending that integrates up to 60% recycled PVB into structural automotive components, acoustic underlays, and green construction materials.
