Glass Powder & Mesh Grades
Precision-ground recycled glass powder graded by mesh number. Each grade specifies sieve standard, particle distribution, chemical composition, and handling requirements.
Important: Mesh-to-micron conversions depend on the sieve standard used.
Mesh-number-to-opening relationships vary by specified standard (ASTM E11, ISO 3310, BS 410) and wire geometry. All grades below state the test sieve standard and measured distribution — never a web-derived conversion. Reference: ASTM C429-21(2025).
Fine-grade 200 mesh recycled glass powder for coating applications, polymer compounding, and precision ceramic glaze formulation.
Mesh Grade Data Requirements
Per ASTM C429-21(2025), every glass powder grade should specify these fields. Mesh number alone does not establish particle-size distribution.
| Required Field | What It Establishes | Common Competitor Gap |
|---|---|---|
| Grade / Mesh Label | Nominal marketing identifier (e.g. 100 Mesh, 200 Mesh) | Often used alone without actual test data |
| Sieve Standard & Aperture | Which sieve standard (ASTM E11, ISO 3310) and nominal opening | Mesh-to-micron conversions without stating the standard |
| Pass / Retained % | Actual measured percentage passing or retained on stated sieve | Range labels without distribution data |
| D10 / D50 / D90 | Particle-size distribution percentiles from laser diffraction or sieve | Not published by most Indian suppliers |
| Chemical Composition | SiO2, Na2O, CaO, etc. from XRF or wet chemistry | "100% purity" claims without specifying analyte or method |
| Source Composition | Glass family and feedstock verification | Listed as generic "recycled glass" with no source |
| Moisture Content | Max % moisture at time of packaging | Rarely specified |
| Bulk Density | Loose and/or tapped bulk density for packaging and handling | Often missing for fine grades |
| Packaging & Net Weight | 25kg / 50kg HDPE bags, jumbo bags, etc. | Generic "plastic bag" without weights |
| TDS / COA & Batch ID | Downloadable data sheet with lot number and test date | No downloadable documents provided |
Do not convert mesh to microns without a stated sieve series. Ask the supplier for aperture basis and measured distribution; publish µm with the test method. — Developer Brief Addendum, Sep 2026
